So far 2025 had brought much change and lots of surprises. As for the world of music, one of the headline stories is the re-emergence of Sublime.
Not long ago, we all got the news that Rome Ramirez was stepping back from the lead vocals gig of Sublime with Rome, and son of former lead singer, the late Bradley Nowell would be taking the reins.
Jakob Nowell is a successful music in his own right. He fronts his band Jakob’s Castle. That said, it’s one thing to start your own band and grow with it: it’s another thing to step into the shoes of an iconic band like Sublime. More importantly, being the son of one of the biggest names to ever come out of the LBC, that is something else altogether, yet the younger Nowell succeeded and for all intents and purposes – it could easily be argue that he was born for this role.
Since the announcement of Jakob joining the band, Sublime has taken off and like the Phoenix, Sublime has risen again to the top of the music world.
With the success of “Feel Like That,” a song that features Bradley and Jakob Nowell, along with the help of reggae legends Stick Figure: old school fans and new ones can’t get enough of Sublime.

Sublime today features Jakob Nowell on guitar and lead vocals, Bud Gaugh sits behind the riser and pounds the drums, while Eric Wilson is a presence on stage behind the keys and slapping the bass. The band’ sonic signature exposes elements of reggae, ska and rock making for a sound uniquely Sublime.
The band is literally a family affair; Jakob has always considered the two statements of the band as his uncles. Together, their sound is joyous and eerie and the manner in which Jakob sounds so much like his dad, it will leave you awe struck.
While making no overtures about it, Jakob is Jakob on stage and off. He sounds unbelievably good belting out the classics, “What I Got,” “Santeria,” “Wrong Way,” “Doin’ Time,” “Badfish,” “Smoke Two Joints,” “Caress me Down,” and “Garden Grove” which he has released recently under Jakob’s Castle.
