The iconic legend of new wave known as Howard Jones is in a celebratory mood – as he should be! His era-defining album, “Dream into Action,” turns 40 this year and that is worthy of a major party.
Jones will host festivities all over the globe, but just for us in the US, we get to celebrate with Haircut 100 and Mr. Richard Blade.
Jones announced, “Thrilled to be touring with my good friends Haircut 100 and Richard Blade once again for this celebratory anniversary of Dream into Action, the shows are gonna be rocking, can’t wait to see you there.”
At 70 years of age (wow – he does not look it!) the Brit confessed, “This is the best job in the world, playing songs that people love, and hopefully leaving them inspired by the lyrics. I’ve always thought my role was that of a cheerleader as we all struggle with the ups and downs of daily life. We all need a boost when we are trying to put our dreams into action. At the end of the day, my job is to put on an amazing show, and leave people buzzing with a new energy, ready to deal with whatever life throws our way.”

“Dream into Action” is home to some of Jones’ biggest hits – “Things Can Only Get Better,” “Life in One Day,” “No One Is to Blame,” and – although technically a bonus track – “Like to Get to Know You Well.” Jones will share the album on this global tour, plus surely add in some of his other classics, like “Everlasting Love,” “New Song,” and “What Is Love?”

Along for the jaunt is another new wave icon, Haircut 100, whose frontman Nick Heyward said, “Haircut 100 are massive Howard Jones fans and we’re looking forward to touring the US again with him in September. Like us, he has the loveliest fans and we can’t wait to see you all again.” We plan to be singing along to “Love Plus One” and “Boy Meets Girl.”

Of course who best to host such a night? SiriusXM First Wave DJ – and former KROQ voice – Richard Blade is hitting the tour circuit. Blade said, “I’m so excited to be going back out on tour with Howard Jones. Being on the road with him in February and having the privilege to watch his amazing performances every night was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, now it’s going to be twice in a lifetime!! And to have Haircut 100 and my dear friend Nick Heyward joining us will make it an absolutely unmissable concert experience. I can’t wait to see you at the shows – they’re going to be great.”
Jones’ 40th Dream into Action Anniversary Tour kicks off in Nashville on September 2nd, travels through the South, and then the East Coast before making its way west. SoCal residents can catch the show in Anaheim at House of Blues on September 16th or at The Sound in Del Mar on September 20th.
