THE NEW “PERIL” BEGINS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11
AT THE LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE IN LAGUNA BEACH
LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE presents the world premiere of a new Hercule Poirot comic mystery, PERIL IN THE ALPS, written and directed by Steven Dietz (Laguna Playhouse’s wildly successful production of Murder on the Links), and based in part of “Poirot Investigates” by Agatha Christie. PERIL IN THE ALPS will begin previews on Wednesday, June 11 (with a press opening on Sunday, June 15 at 5:30pm) and will run through Sunday, June 29 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Dr. in Laguna Beach.
The thrilling follow-up to Murder on the Links makes its anticipated debut! This new Hercule Poirot story leads the famed Belgian detective on a thrilling journey into the treacherous snow-capped Alps to solve a kidnapping before it becomes a murder. Will he finally meet his match in the mountains? Fortunately for the audience, the journey to the satisfying conclusion is filled with clever twists and turns and plenty of laughter as Poirot encounters dozens of eccentric characters and clever suspects – all played by six actors!

At North Coast Rep: Murder on the Links (world premiere), This Random World, Bloomsday, Becky’s New Car, Dracula. For the ‘24-25 season, Dietz was once again named one of the “20 Most Produced Playwrights in America” by American Theatre Magazine.
The cast of PERIL IN THE ALPS features (in alphabetical order): Gabbie Adner (Murder on the Links and Desperate Measures at ICT) as “Woman Two,” Valerie Larsen (Ring of Fire at Ensemble Theatre Company, Something Rotten at Musical Theatre West) as “Captain Hastings,” Brian Mackey (Murder on the Links at Laguna Playhouse, Little Women at North Coast Rep) as “Man Two,” Omri Schein (Murder on the Links at Laguna Playhouse), as “Hercule Poirot,” Amanda Sitton (Laughter on the 23rd Floor at North Coast Rep, The Glass Menagerie at Cygnet Theater) as “Woman One,” and Christopher M. Williams (Holmes & Watson at Laguna Playhouse, Off-Broadway: Rothschild & Sons, opposite Robert Cuccioli) as “Man One.”
The design team for PERIL IN THE ALPS is as follows: scenic design by Marty Burnett; costume design by Elisa Benzoni; lighting design by Matthew Novotny; composer and sound design by Rob Witmer; props design by Rai Feltmann hair & wigs design by Peter Herman. The Production Stage Manager is Vernon Willet.
PERIL IN THE ALPS will preview on Wednesday, June 11 at 7:30pm; Thursday, June 12 at 2:00pm & 7:30pm; Friday, June 13 at 7:30pm; Saturday, June 14 at 2:00pm & 7:30pm; (with a press opening on Sunday, June 15 at 5:30pm) and run through Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Dr. in Laguna Beach.
Performances are Wednesdays at 7:30pm; Thursdays at 2:00pm and 7:30pm; Fridays at 7:30pm; Saturdays at 2:00pm & 7:30pm; Sundays at 1:00pm & 5:30pm. There will be no performance on Sunday, June 4 at 1:00pm or Sunday, June 18 at 5:30pm. There will be a post-show talkback following the Friday, June 20 performance.
