“I’m so proud to recognize and celebrate our team captain, Nina Elias, who has committed to continue her water polo career at my alma mater Chapman University,” Kim-E said at a signing ceremony this week.
“It may be hard to believe, but Nina only started this sport just a few years ago. Her journey from being brand new to the sport to now a collegiate water polo athlete is a testament to her hard work, perseverance, and passion. From the moment that I met Nina, I always knew that she had what it takes to be sitting where she is now, and it has been an honor to support her along the way.”
Elias was a enter defender and was on varsity for three years, Kim said.
“She unfortunately was injured for most of her senior year, so her more impressive accolades were from her junior year when our team reached the Division 4 CIF finals,” he said.
Elias earned second team all-Pacific Coast League and was first team All-CIF as a junior.
Kim-E thanked Eilias for “being a true role model both in and out of the pool. Our girls water polo program is going to miss you, but we can’t wait to cheer you on as a Panther. Chapman is lucky to have you. Congratulations.”
