Swing Dance Party Set at Garden Amp
April 18th, 2025 by Jimmy Alvarez
In the early ‘90s there was a shift in the world of music, life as we knew it was now in the era of grunge! Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden and the Smashing Pumpkins ruled supreme.
Despite the newfound glory of the Seatle sound, one band defied the odds and brought back a genre that made its way back to the silver screen. The genre was swing, the band was Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
This bad defied all odds, they remain a focus of the swing community, and they captivate audiences throughout the planet with their signature sound and sonic vision that merges swing, jazz and Dixieland with a little flare of today’s music scene.
With a fashion sense that makes you shake what your mama gave you, this band brings their own electricity along with speakers and guitars.
Considered a swing revival band, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy from Ventura, their catalog of hits includes “Go Daddy-O”, “You & Me & the Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)”, and “Mr. Pinstripe Suit.
The band was featured in the feature film Swingers, and they even played the ’89 Super Bowl halftime show.
And tonight they bring that energy and epic sound to the Garden Amp. Also paying are support acts Big Sandy, the Fly Rites and the Blue Shadows (featuring the rhythm section of the Blasters) John Baz and Bill Bateman.
If you like to shake, rattle and roll this may be a night for you to head on out to the Garden Amp.
