Fullerton Police press release

On Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 10:52 PM, police officers were dispatched to the area of W. Commonwealth Ave. and Library Ln. regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in a wheelchair, according to the Fullerton Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male pedestrian in the roadway with traumatic injuries. Officers immediately began life-saving measures until the Fullerton Fire Department arrived.

Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of a Hyundai involved in the collision remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

An initial investigation has revealed that a gray Hyundai, driven by a 41-year-old male resident of Fullerton, was traveling westbound on Commonwealth Avenue. Meanwhile, a male pedestrian in a wheelchair attempted to cross northbound at the intersection while the traffic signal was red. The pedestrian moved in front of the oncoming westbound traffic when he was hit by the Hyundai. At this stage of the investigation, it is not believed that alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor related to the driver. Investigators did locate alcohol at the scene believed to belong to the pedestrian.

The deceased pedestrian’s identity will be released later by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
