PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE TOURNAMENT

IRVINE 65, NORTHWOOD 60 (2 OTs): The Vaqueros clinched the outright league title (its first since 1991) with the win in a dramatic game in the championship game at Portola Wednesday night. Irvine goes to the CIF playoffs as the league’s No. 1 representative in the CIF playoffs while Northwood goes as No. 2.

Cooper Stearns had 28 points and 16 rebounds and his younger brother Holden Stearns had 19 points including eight points in the first overtime. Logan Barber had 16 points and Dane Mortensen 14 points to lead Northwood.

WOODBRIDGE 47, SAGE HILL 44: The Warriors bounced back from a tough loss on Monday to Irvine to defeat Sage Hill. Jaiden Sabino led the Warriors with 25 points, including some clutch baskets in the final quarter. Kishon Pandhoh and Jason Briggs added nine points each for the Warriors, who are headed to the CIF playoffs as one of the top four automatic qualifiers.

Sage Hill was led by Tre Credle who had 15 points and Jackson Cryst who had 12 points. The Lightning also advance to the playoffs.

PORTOLA 75, ST. MARGARET’S 50: The Bulldogs were led by senior guard Brady Kim who had 16 points, two 3-pointers and five assists. He scored 13 points in the first quarter when he eclipsed 1,000 career points.

Fellow senior guard Brandon Toorani had 14 points and two 3-pointers while Brock Smith had eight points and Lucas Ip scored seven points for Portola (11-17, 4-6).

St. Margaret’s (9-19, 2-8) had two players scored in double figures: senior guard Caiden Isola with 15 points and sophomore Botty O’Kane with 12 points.

LAGUNA BEACH 61, UNIVERSITY 49: After a tight first quarter, Laguna Beach opened up a sizable margin in the middle two quarters to win the game at Portola. University had a good fourth quarter to cut the final margin to 61-49.

Junior center Brody Azarian was top scorer with 26 points for the Breakers (10-18, 3-6). Senior guard Ryan Cheng added eight points while a trio of players scored six points each: seniors Kamal Dimler and Damian Reidel and junior Tai Contreras.

University (5-19, 2-7) had solid performances from freshman center Will Hazelrig (12 points, all in the second half), sophomore guard Josh Kagawan (seven points and three steals), sophomore forward Abdallah Shami (six points and nine rebounds) and junior point guard Savion Ruth (five points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals).

GOLDEN WEST LEAGUE

BUENA PARK 60, SANTA ANA 43: The Coyotes clinched a CIF playoff berth with the win in a third-place playoff.

GROVE LEAGUE

ORANGE 40, LOARA 39: Orange clinched a CIF playoff berth with the win in the third place playoff game. Junior Ivan Kim led the Panthers with 13 points, while senior Mark Hernandez-Chino added 12 points, and junior Vic Ceja had nine points. This is Orange’s first playoff berth since the shortened 2021 season.

FREEWAY LEAGUE

EL DORADO 59, SONORA 45: The Golden Hawks won a third place CIF playoff game Wednesday. Elias Rodarte had 15 points and four 3-pointers and Noah Barker had 13 points.

NON-LEAGUE

CAPO VALLEY CHRISTIAN 77, SOUTHLANDS CHRISTIAN 31: The Eagles (24-4) were led by Matthew Ahern, who had 19 points. Michael Ahern had 16 points for CVC.

CRESTVIEW LEAGUE

Canyon 64, Cypress 56 (league playoff)
