If you are intent on stealing cars in Orange County you may want to avoid doing so in Lake Forest.
Lake Forest deputies were on a roll early yesterday morning, recovering not one, not two, but three stolen vehicles during their shift.
It all started just after midnight on the 5 Freeway near El Toro Road. Deputies spotted a vehicle with a stolen license plate and pulled it over. Turns out, the car itself had been stolen about a month ago. The driver’s night got even worse when deputies found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. That suspect then enjoyed a road trip to the Orange County Jail.
Not long after, while back on patrol, the same deputy noticed two vehicles following each other on the 5 Freeway near Lake Forest Drive.
Teaming up with OCSD – Laguna Woods Police Services deputies, they stopped both vehicles.
A quick records check revealed the Ram truck had been stolen earlier that night in Laguna Hills, while the Jeep was confirmed stolen after deputies contacted the owner.
Those suspects also got a free ride to the Orange County Jail.
If it turns out the suspects were from Los Angeles County or the Inland Empire they made a bad move by committing crimes in Orange County. Our OCDA will most definitely throw the book at them and thanks to Prop. 36 they can expect to spend some time in a state prison.
