At approximately 3:07 p.m. today, the OCFA responded to an accident involving a bus and an SUV near Santiago Canyon and Red Rock Canyon.

The accident scene was a frightening sight in a more geographically remote area.

The fire crews quickly assessed the scene and identified 5 patients: 3 adults and 2 children.

All 5 patients were transported in stable but serious condition. CHP is on scene and investigating the cause of the accident.

The Orange Unified School District confirmed it was one of their school buses that was involved in the crash. It said the school bus was carrying the driver and two students, according to NBC.

The bus was apparently transporting students with special needs, according to ABC.

Officials believe the SUV crashed into the school bus, but no further information was provided about the cause of the crash or if speed was determined to be a factor, according to KTLA.
