On November 24th, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m. Newport Beach Fire Department units NE63, NT63, NB6, NM65, and NM62 responded to a significant single-vehicle traffic collision on the southbound side of Jamboree Road, just north of the Hyatt Hotel and adjacent to the Palisades Tennis Club.
A SUV struck and severely damaged two light poles before colliding with a tree, causing the engine compartment to separate from the main body of the vehicle. Upon arrival, NE63 quickly extinguished a fire in the vehicle’s engine compartment.
The main body of the vehicle was found approximately 20 feet away in the middle of Jamboree Road, with additional debris, including a front tire, discovered inside the Palisades Tennis Club property.
Miraculously both occupants of the vehicle self-extricated prior to the arrival of emergency responders and were found sitting on the curb. They were assessed on scene and transported to a local area hospital in stable condition.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
