Crean Lutheran High School officials announced that Michael Brenner has been named new varsity softball coach.
“Coach Brenner is an active softball coach with a wealth of experience,” said Athletic Director Eric Olson in a release from the school.
“Coach Brenner is confident in his Christian faith and he looks forward to coaching softball in a community where he can share the love of Jesus. His knowledge of the game, passion for training and leadership abilities were all qualities we were looking for in our head coach.”
“I am beyond excited and honored to lead the softball program at Crean Lutheran High School,” Brenner said. ”It is a dream come true in so many ways and I will do whatever it takes to make every player successful, on the field, in the classroom and in life.
“I ask God to wrap his arms around our program, bless its participants and for his guidance and strength for the players and staff of Crean Lutheran.”
During the past decade, Brenner said he has spent the majority of his free time coaching softball and on overall program development at Orange Canyon Girls Softball League. He’s also currently the head coach of a 14-and-under travel team at Empire Fastpitch.
“I’ve coached girls of all ages, and skill levels from ages 4-16,” he said. “I’ve coached players at all those ages who have varying levels of experience. Some with years of playing experience, but also brand-new players who had previously never picked up a softball.
“I served as the league president for the last two and a half years where my primary focus was rebuilding our competitive programs and also reframing youth softball in Orange County, providing year-round opportunities to our athletes, advanced development opportunities for players, and coach training to better serve our community youth. The league has blossomed and has a bright future.”
Brenner resides in Orange with his wife Ashley, and 13-year-old daughter, Madison.
