Costa Mesa man arrested for the suspected murder of a female friend

COSTA MESA, Calif. (Oct. 22, 2024) – The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) tonight arrested a man for the suspected murder of a 38-year-old woman.

On Oct. 22, 2024, at approximately 2:27p.m., the Communications Center received a call about a deceased woman found in the backyard of a home located in the 1900 block of Maple Avenue.

Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue and CMPD responded to the scene. When officers arrived, they found the victim deceased and immediately began an investigation. The victim’s friend was identified as a suspect and located in Glendale. Costa Mesa detectives traveled to Glendale and arrested the suspect.

The identity of the victim will not be released pending next of kin notification. In order to further protect the identity of the victim, CMPD will delay releasing the identity of the suspect. When appropriate, CMPD will update the public on the identities.
