Fountain Valley man arrested for vandalizing Dave Min for Congress political signs

Today, October 8, 2024, the Huntington Beach Police Department responded to two separate incidents of vandalism involving political signs belonging to Candidate Dave Min.

The first report was received at approximately 11:45 a.m. in the area of Newland Street and Lamar Drive, where several signs were found defaced with derogatory language that Min described as racist anti-Asian slurs. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Later, at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers responded to a second report of vandalized political signs in the area of Magnolia Street and Mediterranean Drive.

Based upon information provided by witnesses, police arrested Kevin Walker, a 62-year-old resident of Fountain Valley, who was located in a nearby area. Walker was arrested for vandalism.

At this time, investigators have determined that Kevin Walker acted alone, and there is no evidence to suggest he is part of a larger group.

The Huntington Beach Police Department takes vandalism seriously, particularly when it involves hate speech. We remain committed to maintaining public safety and investigating all crimes.

Editor’s Note: Senator Dave Min (D-Orange County) was sentenced in August of 2023 to three years probation for receiving a DUI in May of that year, as well as having to pay over $2,000 in fines and being forced to complete a 30-hour state-licensed alcohol and drug education program, according to the California Globe.
