Grab your taste buds and come to the 25th annual Sunset Beach Chili Cook Off this Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Sunset Beach Community Center – 16861 12th Street at Pacific Coast Highway.
“The mouthwatering event is an initiative to support local students through scholarships. In 2023 we supported 14 locals with scholarships, thanks to this event,” said Sunset Beach Woman’s Club Co-President Cheryl Coleman. “This year our goal is to give 20 scholarships.”
Prepare for a chili showdown of epic proportions from Taco Surf, Frutti di Mare Food Truck and more while enjoying beer and wine to quench your thirst, all set to the sounds of classic rock band Cat Reed and The Back Alley. A panel of judges crowning the Championship Winner includes Huntington Beach Mayor Gracey Van Der Mark.
Every entry gets one free raffle ticket with amazing prizes such as a Two Night Stay at The Seal Beach Water Tower, a One Night Stay at The Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort with a $100 Food Credit or a One Hour Helicopter Ride-along in Huntington Beach Police Department Helicopter. Additional raffle tickets are $5 each.
“The community of Sunset Beach always has unique ways of getting together and doing it with the purpose of helping others with the money they earn,” said Sunset Beach Art Gallery owner Bill Anderson, who credits volunteers such as Pat Rogers and Cheryl Coleman with keeping the Sunset Beach Woman’s Club going since its inception in 1929. “What a great place to be part of!”
Tickets to the event are $20 adults, kids 5 and under are free at the gate or you can purchase them in advance on Eventbrite, or e-mail: sbwcca@gmail.com.
