The Seal Beach Knights of Columbus will be back for life-saving blood donations when they host a summer blood drive with the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross Thursday August 22, at St. Anne’s Parish Hall, 340 10th Street, Seal Beach from 1 – 7 p.m. Plenty of free parking on site.
The Red Cross will carry out all blood donations, and you can be assured that giving blood is a safe and short process. Knights at St. Anne’s Council 9594 in Seal Beach encourage all to donate blood and be a hero in someone’s life.
Research has found that donating blood improves the physical health and emotional well-being of the donor. These benefits contribute to lower stress levels and improved mental well-being. Helping others has also been linked to a lower risk of depression. Blood donors report feeling a sense of great satisfaction because helping others in need just feels good.
And think of the lives you will save by making blood immediately available for patients who require transfusions following surgery, people with severe trauma, cancer patients, surgery patients, newborn babies, birthing mothers, and more.
While it’s nice to know that donating blood saves lives, it’s even better to see it in action. When you donate through the Knights of Columbus and American Red Cross, you can look on the Red Cross App, and track your blood donation as it travels to a Red Cross Blood Bank, gets delivered to a local hospital, and then when it’s been transfused to a patient. And each donor will receive a $20 Amazon.com Gift Card by email. Oh, what a feeling!
