As many regular low and middle-class income earners feel the pinch with inflation levels rising and housing costs jumping, some seem immune to the effects of a shifting economy – tech companies. While us regular folk measure our incomes in hourly wages or yearly salaries, the largest tech behemoths are raking in thousands per second.
Based on their annual revenue in 2023, Amazon takes just over three seconds to make the $59,384 that the average American makes in one year! But they aren’t alone; other tech giants like Apple, Google, and Microsoft also pull in unbelievable sums per second.
Max Bramwell, the founder of FounderPass, has collated the data, and on their innovative infographic page, “How much top tech companies earn every second”, FounderPass unveils tech giants’ remarkable earnings – second by second and minute by minute.

How Did These Giants Make Such A Staggering Amount?
Max dives deeper into the numbers and looks at how these jaw-dropping profits are made.
Max says, “Amazon, the e-commerce juggernaut, makes a mind-boggling $18,224 every second, translating to over $1,000,000 every minute and $574 billion in 2023, making it one of the wealthiest companies globally. Its relentless expansion poses both opportunities and challenges, but seems nigh unstoppable.”
Apple rakes in $12,230 per second, which Max attributes to its primary revenue driver, the iPhone, supplemented by robust sales of Macs, iPads, and services like Apple Music and iCloud.
Max explains that Alphabet’s (parent company of Google) $9,748 per second earnings are a result of its “dominance in online searches, advertising, and cloud computing”.
Meanwhile, Microsoft pulls in $6,719 per second based on its 2023 earnings, a number expected to rocket with their foray into AI technology, according to Max.
How Does Your Income Stack Up?
With an average salary of $59,428 per year in the United States, Amazon takes approximately 3.26 seconds to bring in what the average American does. In the UK, the average salary is £34,963 a year. Amazon generates that in just 2.43 seconds.
While the amounts earned by these tech giants might make the average worker’s income seem depressingly low, it’s important to remember “these revenues go toward paying employees, operating expenses, research and development, capital expenditures, and reinvestment, contributing to a thriving economy”, explains Max. “Though, of course it also goes to shareholders and the top brass”.
A New Digital Landscape
Max concludes on an optimistic note, saying, “These impressive earnings per second reflect the massive potential in the tech industry. With the digital landscape brimming with opportunities, accessible resources, and innovative tools, now is the perfect time for aspiring entrepreneurs to start their journey and potentially join the ranks of these tech giants.”
