Orange County high school baseball highlights for Wednesday, April 10

NON-LEAGUE

ESTANCIA 13, HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 0: The Eagles (18-4) were led by winning pitcher Vaughn McCrea (1-1). In three innings, he allowed two hits and struck out two.

Cole Lefebvre was 2 for 2 with three RBI and a double; Jake Humphries 2 for 4 with two runs scored, two RBI and a double; John Uchytil 2 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI and McCrea 1 for 2 with two runs scored and two RBI.

The Eagles return to Orange Coast League play next Tuesday to host Saddleback at 3:15 p.m.

COSTA MESA 10, CERRITOS 9 (10 innings): Wylan Rottschafer (3-0) earned the win, allowing two hits and no runs and striking out six 4 2/3 innings. He was also 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Isaiah Mamian was 1 for 3 with a double and three RBI, Aiden Comte was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBI and Jack Shafer 2 for 4.

LEAGUE

TESORO 3, TRABUCO HILLS 0: The Titans (13-7, 5-3) were led by Logan Zakhar, who pitched a complete game three-hit shutout in the South Coast League game. Christian La Mothe was 1 for 4 with an RBI, Owen Faust 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored.

Trabuco Hills (10-8, 2-3) won Tuesday’s game over Tesoro 8-1. Kenhi Gonzales pitched a complete game, striking out seven and allowing one run and no earned runs. Logan Molina was 2 for 4 with three RBI for the Mustangs.

VILLA PARK 6, EL MODENA 1: The Spartans (13-9, 2-2) were led by Justin Tims, who pitched a complete game, allowing one run and three hits while striking out three in the Crestview League game. Nate Lewis was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI, Zach Mattern was 2 for 4 with a run scored, double and two RBI, Tims 1 for 3 with an RBI and Dom Gutierrez had an RBI.

CORONA DEL MAR 5, NEWPORT HARBOR 0: The Sea Kings (12-8, 3-2) earned at least a tie in the series with the final Wave League game Friday at Newport Harbor. Stevie Jones threw a complete game, striking out 12. Dillon Lane, Brady Gadol and Carter Danz all had two hits.

PACIFICA 8, TUSTIN 3: The Mariners improved their record to 18-6 overall and 6-0 in league play, atop the Empire League.

CYPRESS 16, KENNEDY 0: The Centurions notched an Empire League and Coach John Weber earned his 400th career victory. Cypress (13-10-1) is in second place in the league with a 4-1 mark behind league leading Pacifica.

NORTHWOOD 4, UNIVERSITY 3: The Timberwolves, who share the league lead with Beckman, evened the Pacific Coast League series with a win over the Trojans Wednesday at Northwood. Casey Euper and Carter Liu each had two RBI for the Timberwolves (12-5-1, 10-3). Liu pitched the first five innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs and striking out six. Andres Hernandez finished with two shutout innings, striking out one.

Shayan Eldridge and Andrew Dowd had the RBI for University (9-11, 6-8). Jameson LoBianco, who pitched the first five innings, took the loss. James Zhang pitched the final inning for the Trojans. Eldridge and Luke Weston each had two hits for University.

Northwood is tied for first place with Beckman, which defeated Laguna Hills 4-1 Wednesday. University dropped into a tie for fifth place with Portola.

Northwood and University finish their PCL series Friday at University.

WOODBRIDGE 9, IRVINE 1: The Warriors (13-7, 9-5) won the second game of the Pacific Coast League series Wednesday and clinched a series win with win game left Friday at Irvine.

Woodbridge outhit Irvine 7-3 and took advantage of four errors by Irvine (9-10-1, 7-7). Nolan Stottlemyer and Dylan Mutuc had two RBI for the Warriors. Nevan Namgoong and Henry Uhrik had two hits each for Woodbridge.

Mutuc went the distance, striking out seven and allowing three hits and one run.

Adam Valencia was 2 for 2 with a run scored and Nate Valencia was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
