WEDNESDAY HIGHLIGHTS

TUSTIN 8, CITUS VALLEY 4: The Tillers (10-8) were led by Raul De La Riva, who was 2 for 4 and Daniel Benally who was 1 for 2 with an RBI. “The team played a great game with RBI spread throughout the whole lineup,” said Tustin Coach Ben Owens. “Adam Whyte threw the first three innings and Bubba Lara came in for the last two.”

The game on field 10 at the Great Park was called after five innings due to a time limit. Tustin (1-1 in the tournament) faces Canyon Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Great Park Stadium to wrap up the tournament.

NORTHWOOD 3, ALISO NIGUEL 0: The Timberwolves banged out 10 hits for the win Wednesday at the Great Park stadium. Paul Grossman pitched the first three innings, allowing one hit and striking out four. Casey Euper finished the game with four innings, allowing one hit and striking out six. Kai Mo, Carter Liu and Rylan Littlejohn had the RBI for Northwood. (11-4-1). Grossman, Liu, Littlejohn and Caleb Hu had two hits for Northwood, which finished up tournament play.

Brandon Tatch and Jarret Sabol had the two hits for Aliso Niguel (12-7).

COSTA MESA 3, CANYON 2: The Mustangs (15-5) were led by Michael Joyce who pitched six innings, allowing two hits and striking out seven. Wylan Rottschafer was 2 for 2 with two runs scored and Omar Gutierrez 2 for 2 with two RBI. Costa Mesa wraps up the tournament Thursday, facing Foothill at the Great Park field 10 at 6:30 p.m.

ESPERANZA 1, EL TORO 0 (8 innings): The Aztecs (8-10) were led by sophomore Sam Orozco, who threw an eight inning complete game shutout. Jacob Santos had a pinch-hit single and go-ahead run in the eighth inning.

UNIVERSITY 5, DAVIS (UTAH) 3: After losing to Los Alamitos 5-0 in the first game of a doubleheader, the Trojans (9-10) won their first tournament game after two losses. Jameson LoBianco pitched well allowing no runs in 5 1/3 innings, according to Uni Coach Wesley Shaw. He allowed five hits.

FOOTHILL 3, YUCAIPA 0: Foothill notched the win Wednesday but Yucaipa had some outstanding performances too. Mario Gonzalez “was outstanding,” according to Yucaipa coach Ralph Grajeda. He scattered four hits and struck out 10. Jordan Headley was 2 for 3 with a stolen base, Connor White 2 for 3, Wes Hickey 1 for 4 with a double and Evan Heaton 1 for 2 with a double and a stolen base.
