The hit Netflix TV show “Stranger Things” was filmed in locations throughout Albuquerque, New Mexico, and now one iconic house could be yours for the right price.
In the Netflix series, the house was home to the Byers family during the show’s fourth season. But in the real world, it’s owned by Ryan and Karen Asher.
This weekend, the Ashers are putting the home on the market.
“It’s been a whirlwind and so much fun the whole way,” Ryan Asher said.
The Ashers bought the house in 2021, renting it out as an Airbnb. According to the Airbnb listing, the 4,000-square-foot house has four bedrooms and four bathrooms with an ’80s-themed basement. It also has an unfenced “oversized, deep pond” in the backyard.
“Welcome to the NM upside down,” the listing states.
The Ashers say the house has attracted hundreds of fans from all over the world, including from the Czech Republic, Australia and China.
“On weekends, it was probably a person every couple [or] three hours knocking on the door. And just the excitement, they’re like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ They’re jumping-up-and-down excited,” said Ryan Asher.
For the last few years, the Ashers have spent their time replicating the rooms from the show and adding unique vintage touches. They say potential buyers could purchase the home fully furnished for an acceptable offer.
Remnants of the production can also be found throughout the house, including glass in the air vents from when the windows were shot out during an action scene.
“Of course, it’ll be bittersweet, but we’re going to let other people enjoy it,” said Ryan Asher.
The owners will have an open house on Saturday from 12-3 p.m. For potential buyers interested in a private viewing, they can reach out to real estate agent Felicia Vaisa with Vertical Real Estate Keller Williams at feliciavaisa@kw.com.
“It’s just brought a lot of joy to us and a lot of other people and we hope it continues to do so,” said Ryan Asher.
