Crean Lutheran High School’s 6-3standout sophomore guard Kaiden Bailey joined the 1,000-point mark in his basketball career with the Saints on Saturday.

Bailey, who is averaging 26 points a game, scored 37 points to help the Saints defeat Redondo Union 72-64 Saturday in the Take Flight Challenge at Redondo Union.

“Crean Lutheran and the Saints basketball family are so proud of Kaiden and this outstanding accomplishment; 1,000 career points is incredible but to do it in only a season and a half is even more impressive,” said Crean Lutheran Coach Nate Klitzing. “God has truly blessed our program and you, Kaiden. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.”

Bailey, only a sophomore, has yet to commit to a college basketball program and Klitzing said he believes the guard “probably won’t commit for a few more years.”

Crean Lutheran (8-8 overall, 1-0 in league) continues Empire League play Tuesday at Pacifica (14-5, 1-0).

The Saints are coming off a rugged non-league schedule in November and December which also included the Damien Classic. Klitzing calls it “the toughest schedule in Crean Lutheran basketball history. Trying to get battle tested for D1 and a league championship. I think it will benefit our team in the long run.”
