The City of Irvine has been voted “Best City to Live in” for the eighth consecutive year by The Orange County Register readers.

Home to more than 300,000 residents, Irvine continues to exemplify a livable City, master-planned for our residents, businesses, and visitors alike. Irvine is home to more than 20,000 businesses that provide 275,000 jobs in the City. For nearly 20 years, Irvine has had the lowest per capita violent crime rate for its size, and more than one-third of our land is preserved as parks, trails, and natural wildlands – making our park system among the top 10 in the nation. In addition, the Great Park currently boasts over 500 acres of developed park space, with 300 more acres planned in the next phase of development. Grounded in history and driven by community, it will be a park for all and one of the world’s best municipal parks.

“As Mayor, I am dedicated to ensuring an exceptional quality of life for everyone in our City,” said Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “Receiving this award for eight consecutive years proves our City priorities mirror those of our community: our open space, environmental stewardship, safety, and innovation. We are proud of this distinction and will strive to continue to be the best City in Orange County for years to come.”

Irvine is among those featured in the Register’s 30th annual Best of Orange County publication, an insider’s guide to residents’ favorite places to go and things to do. Thousands of votes were cast by Register readers in more than 70 categories this year, and nearly 50 businesses selected as winners or finalists can be found in Irvine. They range in a variety of categories, including Best Barbecue, Best OC College/University, and Best Shopping/Dining Destination. For a complete list of winners, visit ocregister.com

Other cities on the list included Huntington Beach and Newport Beach.
