We are working with our community to create a better Brookhurst Street.
The 3.5-mile corridor through west Anaheim is a vibrant mix of restaurants and businesses serving a diverse population and distinct cultures.
Along with the businesses of Brookhurst, the street includes nearby neighborhoods, schools, parks and places of worship, with a mix of old and new.
Brookhurst is also home to Little Arabia, a culturally unique area that was recently recognized by the Anaheim City Council.
Little Arabia is a collection of restaurants, shops and other businesses built by immigrants from the Arab world and the greater Middle East since the 1980s. Spanning roughly a mile of Brookhurst from Ball Road to Broadway, Little Arabia is a favorite for Mediterranean food and other culturally unique businesses.
The study will look at how best to advance Brookhurst for everyone now and in the years to come.
The first phase will look at the issues and opportunities related to how land is used, getting around, parking and other opportunities for improvement. We’ll also study the recently designated Little Arabia district and determine if the district boundaries should be updated.
You and everyone in the community will have a chance to offer input during the first phase. We want to better understand community needs, goals and visions for the corridor. Your feedback will be used to develop recommendations for the city to consider related to land use regulations, public improvements, funding, identity and more.
We expect this phase to continue through the end of 2023.
The second phase will consist of implementing recommendations.
A community working group will be created and help serve as the conduit between the residents and businesses along Brookhurst and the city.
You can expect a series of community events, such as pop-ups, walking tours and open houses to learn more abut the study and offer feedback.
We also invite you to sign up for projects updates here.
