….; Foothill High School’s football team held on for a big road victory over Bishop Diego with a goal line stand.

….Former Woodbridge quarterback Eddie Ma had a big game with Northwood in his first varsity start.

….Godinez High School’s football team notched a big season opening win vs. Saddleback, coached by Paige Nobles.

….Crean Lutheran, led by a transfer quarterback Jeremiah Finaly from Los Alamitos, had a solid overall effort vs. Canyon in its season opener.

….Irvine’s football team, led by a three-touchdown performance by Brandon “Figgy” Figueroa defeated Portola 29-10 in the season opener.

—A football opener between Northwood and Woodbridge was moved up an hour because of expected heavy rains from Hurriance Hiliary.

….Coach Jack McInally’s Calvary Chapel team rolled up 56 points in an opening win over Azusa.

….There were also big season opening wins by Segerstrom, Brea Olinda and Santa Ana.
