Additional members of the House of Representatives announced their support for businessman and former Congressman Harley Rouda to retake his seat. Congresswoman Madeleine Dean, Congressman Jim McGovern, Congressman David Trone, and former Congressman Max Rose endorsed Harley’s bid in CA-47 today.
He has already earned the support of several other members of the House, including Congressman and former California Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi, Congressman and Vice Chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC) Dean Phillips, and Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill.
Congresswoman Madeleine Dean released the following statement:
“I’m proud to back Harley Rouda’s candidacy for the House of Representatives. I’ve seen firsthand his tireless work ethic and willingness to put the needs of his constituents ahead of his party and himself. I look forward to working with him again.”
Congressman Jim McGovern released the following statement:
“I’ve been a witness to Harley’s leadership in Washington, as he campaigned to combat climate change and hold polluters accountable. Washington needs more leaders like him”
Congressman David Trone released the following statement:
“Harley Rouda is a proven, solutions-oriented business leader and champion for working families. Washington needs leaders who know how the economy works and how to grow good-paying jobs here in America. That’s why I’m proud to support Harley for Congress.”
Former Congressman Max Rose released the following statement:
“Harley Rouda is a fighter – he was a champion in Washington for lower taxes, better jobs, and affordable health care, and he’ll keep up that fight when he returns to Washington next year. I’m proud to endorse his candidacy.”
In January, the Rouda campaign released its campaign launch video, “Back to Business.” The video contrasts the dysfunction in Congress under Republican control with the desire of Orange County residents to elect leaders who will put country before party and get back to solving the very real challenges our country faces.
CA-47 contains the communities of Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, and Seal Beach. Harley represented more than 70% of these voters during his term in Congress from 2019-2021, following his defeat of Putin’s favorite congressman, Dana Rohrabacher, in a far more Republican leaning district. Congresswoman Katie Porter won the district by only 3 points in 2022.
