With immigration reform remaining a hot-button issue in 2023 and senators attempting to craft a bipartisan bill, the personal-finance website WalletHub released its report on 2023’s Most & Least Ethnically Diverse Cities, as well as expert commentary.

To identify the most ethnically diverse places in America, WalletHub compared more than 500 of the largest U.S. cities across three key metrics: ethno-racial diversity, linguistic diversity and birthplace diversity.

  • Germantown, Maryland, has the highest racial and ethnic diversity, which is four times higher than in Hialeah, Florida, the city with the lowest.
  • Hialeah, Florida, has the highest concentration of Hispanic or Latino people, at 95.82 percent.
  • Brattleboro, Vermont, has the highest concentration of white people, at 94.34 percent.
  • Jackson, Mississippi, has the highest concentration of black people, at 82.59 percent.
