The City Council on Tuesday, January 24 will begin pre-budget discussions; recognize an outstanding Mission Viejo Nadadores diver; and receive information about Mission Hospital’s planned expansion, among other business.
The business portion of the meeting starts at 6 pm in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.
The meeting will feature a pre-budget discussion for fiscal years 2023-2025. The City adopted a balanced budget for FY 22/23, and through sound financial planning, ended the fiscal year last June with a $5 million operating surplus. This will be the first of several meetings during the budget preparation cycle for members of the public to provide input during the process.
In the presentation portion of the meeting, Council Members will recognize Nadadores diver Anna Lemkin for her recent gold medal win at the FINA Junior World Championships.
Keeping in step with our City’s efforts to support important causes, a $20,000 check will be presented to Big Brothers Big Sisters as part of the more than $40,000 raised at the Konrad Reuland Charity Tennis/Pickleball Tournament in 2022 at the Marguerite Tennis Pavilion and Felipe Tennis and Recreation Center. Proceeds also benefited Donate Life, an organ and tissue donation entity and the Lisa Colagrossi Foundation, which spreads awareness and support for brain aneurysm research and education.
In another presentation, Providence Mission Hospital Chief Executive Seth Teigen will talk about the hospital’s plans to expand.
Residents are encouraged to attend City Council meetings, which are streamed live on the City’s website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Stay tuned to the City’s social media sites for up-to-date news and information.
