Cypress police blotter, December 26 to December 31, 2022

December 26, 2022

 
Grand Theft – 11:15 a.m. – 5900 block of Lakeshore – Two suspects were seen on video at 7:30 a.m. on 12/25 stealing two backflow valves valued at $1000. The only description of the suspects were males in a pickup truck.
Hit and Run (Property Damage) – 12:37 p.m. – Lincoln/Moody – A subject struck and destroyed two City-owned concrete pillars at the intersection and drove away. A witness followed him to his residence on Watson, where he ran inside the home and hid. When officers arrived, the family attempted to cover for him by saying someone else was driving. The family refused to bring out subject or permit police to go inside. The case will be forwarded to the OC District Attorney’s Office. Public Works responded and removed the debris from the sidewalk and roadway.
Child Annoyance – 7:22 p.m. – 6800 block of Katella Ave. – Officers responded regarding a suspicious
male subject following two sisters (7 & 8 years old) throughout the store. A witness observed the male subject touch one of the sisters on her lower back as he was attempting to talk to them. She asked the sisters if they knew the male subject and they did not. The male subject quickly left the store when the witness confronted him. He was last seen in a white 4-door Audi with unknown plates.

December 27, 2022

 
Traffic Stop – 1:35 p.m. – Lincoln/Harvard – From a traffic stop, a male subject was arrested for possession of paraphernalia and possession of Methamphetamine. He was cited and released in the field.
Auto Theft – 2:44 p.m. – 5000 block of Myra – A subject took his cousin’s vehicle without her permission. The vehicle was a black 2010 Chevrolet Traverse. The suspect was believed to be heading to a friend’s house in Long Beach, and the vehicle scanned westbound on Katella shortly after the crime.
Assist Other Agency – 9:30 p.m. – Rosecrans/Jersey (Norwalk) – Fullerton PD requested a K9 at the termination of a pursuit of a stolen vehicle. A Cypress K-9 Officer responded and after a search was conducted the suspect was not located.

December 28, 2022

 
Recovered Vehicle – 1:03 a.m. – 5000 block of Myra – While conducting a patrol check, police located the stolen vehicle that was reported during dayshift parked in the driveway. The registered owner was contacted and advised that she no longer desired prosecution. The vehicle was recovered.
Grand Theft – 8:28 a.m. – Sometime over the weekend, an unknown suspect stole construction equipment valued at $25,000.
Vandalism – 11:31 a.m. – 4400 block of Casa Grande Cir. – Between 3 p.m. on 12/27 and 10:00 a.m. today, an unknown suspect used a pry tool to punch the driver’s side door lock, disabling it. No entry was made into the vehicle.

December 29, 2022

 
Suspicious Vehicle – 2:56 a.m. – Knott/Cerritos – From a suspicious vehicle check, two subjects were arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia. Both were cited and released.
Petty Theft – 5:31 p.m. – 6800 block of Katella Ave. – A male and female subject stole $400 worth of alcohol and fled the store. The male subject had a tattoo on his neck. No vehicle was seen.

December 30, 2022

 
Petty Theft – 8:30 a.m. – Cerritos/Valley View – Cypress Police Aides discovered a wheel from the parked radar trailer had been stolen overnight.
Property Destruction – 12:18 p.m. – 5200 block of Orange Ave. – The reporting party was cleaning her garage and located an old rusted firearm.  She requested the firearm be booked for destruction.

December 31, 2022

 
Arrest (x3) – 12:06 a.m. – Orange/Valley View – From a vehicle stop, three subjects were arrested for possession of nitrous oxide.  One subject was also arrested for DUI drugs. Two subjects were cited and released in the field and the first subject was transported to Orange County Jail (OCJ).
Hit and Run Traffic Collision – 2:19 a.m. – Lincoln/Walker – A white Mazda collided with two other vehicles before hitting the curb and planter on the south side of Lincoln, west of Walker.  The driver fled on foot prior to the officer’s arrival. One involved party complained of pain. Public Works was notified regarding the curb and planter.
Arrest – 1:35 p.m. – 4900 block of Katella Ave. – The victim checked on his travel trailer he had stored at the location.  When he attempted to unlock the door, someone from inside the trailer opened the door and a male and female fled.  The male was detained and was identified.  The female was unable to be located. The point of entry into the trailer was the roof vent that was forced open.  The male subject was arrested for burglary.  It should be noted that on 10-15-22, the subject was arrested for being in possession of this same stolen trailer. The subject was transported to OCJ for booking.
