LBPD Homicide detectives are investigating murder at 49th Street and Del Amo Boulevard

On Dec. 20, 2022 at approximately 5:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Atlantic Avenue and Del Amo Boulevard to assist the Long Beach Fire Department regarding an injured person, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male adult off the roadway near the intersection of 49th Street and Del Amo Boulevard. LBFD rendered aid but determined the male deceased at the scene.

Homicide Detectives were notified of the death and responded to investigate. The preliminary investigation revealed the decedent sustained an injury to their upper body, and, at this time, the cause of the injury is not known. At this time, no suspect information is available.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene, took possession of the body, and will work to determine the cause of death, identify the victim, and notify the next of kin.
