Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition becomes BikeLA

On Saturday, November 5, the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) hosted our inaugural LA Bike Fest, where we announced our new name: BikeLA. Since the ’90s, we have advocated for better infrastructure and policies that support the lives of bicyclists across Los Angeles County, no matter the zip code.

However, everyone we talked to agreed that the “Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC)” did not capture the essence of our community or the spirit of our call to embrace the many benefits of bicycling.

We #BikeLA for many of the same reasons you do – to spend quality time outdoors, to improve our personal health, to reduce our carbon footprint, and to connect with the communities we ride through. When we bike LA, there is no way to ignore the quality of the streets we ride or the air we breathe. When we bike LA, there is no doubt whether our lives are supported by the built environment or put in danger because of it.

It’s the perfect time to make a meaningful donation this holiday season as we enter 2023 as BikeLA and continue our efforts to transform our transportation infrastructure from the burden we all suffer to a benefit we all share by advocating for a region that is safe, equitable, and joyous to bicycle.
