Orange County Historical Society to hear about Company L at the Mexican border and during World War One Thursday, December 8th

This post was originally published on this site

The Orange County Historical Society December meeting will highlight Santa Ana’s historic National Guard unit, Company L. Speaker Richard Hartman will discuss their service at the Mexican border and during WWI.

Company L of California’s 7th Infantry was called to active duty in June of 1916 (along with the entire National Guard) to assist the Army at the Southern U.S. border.

Nelson Holderman commanded Company L in 1916 as a Captain, and would go on to receive the Medal of Honor in WWI. He was a part of “The Lost Battalion”, along with several other young men from Santa Ana who lost their lives.

We hope you’ll join us for what should be an interesting and informative evening.

Our program will be held Thursday, December 8th, at 7:30 pm at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2400 N. Canal St., Orange. (Doors open at 7:00 pm.)
