The City of Cypress is proud to announce it has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 36th consecutive year. The award, given by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), recognized the city’s comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2021.

This Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting.

“Financial reports can be daunting to read and no one knows that better than our finance team. That’s why they work diligently to deliver a report that tells Cypress’ financial story in a way that’s inviting and clear for all to read,” said Mayor Paulo Morales. “This prestigious award is a testament to staff’s hard work and to our City’s constant commitment to transparency.”

The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare annual comprehensive financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure and recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving this goal.
