Southbound SR-73 connector to southbound SR-55 closed midnight October 8 to 5 a.m. October 10, 2022

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is continuing work on the southbound State Route 73 (SR-73) connector to southbound SR-55. This work will require a weekend closure of the entire connector for a construction project (detour provided below). The closure will begin at midnight on Saturday, October 8, 2022 and continue until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022.

Please see detour information below:

  • Continue on southbound SR-73 and EXIT at Irvine Ave./Campus Dr.
  • Turn RIGHT onto Irvine Ave.
  • Turn RIGHT onto Mesa Dr.
  • Turn LEFT onto Newport Blvd
  • Turn LEFT onto the SB SR-55 on-ramp

Please obey all posted signs and traffic instructions for the safety of all workers and motorists.

Caltrans appreciates the public’s patience while we perform this work. Electronic changeable messages signs will notify drivers of the closure. The work schedule is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
