Adam Harper likes Northwood’s progress
There were some questions going into the season about Northwood High School’s football team, coached by JC Clarke. Primarily, it involved around an untested offensive line. Many of the linemen are subbing for the regulars, and they have answered the challenge, providing plenty of great opportunities for star running back Adam Harper.
The Timberwolves defeated Beckman 33-14 to improve their record to 4-1.
“We hit a lot of adversity but we’ve come through it,” Harper said after Thursday’s win. “A lot of the guys have stepped up and I’m really proud of this squad. We’re a tough little team, we don’t have a lot of flashiness around. We do our jobs and we fly to the ball and we hit our blocks.
“So we’re going to be a hard team to beat if we do our jobs.”
Northwood plays at Portola next Friday. Bulldogs coach Peter Abe was in attendance Thursday scouting the Timberwolves.
Thrilling league win for Calvary Chapel
Calvary Chapel’s first year coach Jack McInally said on Twitter that Thursday’s game was one of the best he’s ever been involved in. The Eagles won in the final seconds 38-37 over Costa Mesa on a two-point conversion.
Quite a way to start the Orange Coast League season.
