My name is Chris DeSanto, and I am writing to you as I run for Seal Beach City Council in 2022. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about me, and my campaign. As a rather sentimental guy, I appreciate the value of time. And that you would spend a piece of your life with me, means more than you will ever know.
You may be wondering, what is this guy about? What is his angle? Well, I can tell you, while I do have priorities based on my experience living in Seal Beach and from soliciting feedback through the years I have lived here, I am not doing this for me. I do not have an “agenda.” I am here, to listen to you – to be the voice of the people. A regular guy standing up, raising his hand, to help.
I am a numbers guy, through and through; however, I have also learned the job is not spreadsheets. The job, is people. Always has been, and always will be. My aim is to combine data-based decision making with the human and compassionate lens. To do what makes sense logically while giving everyone the warm and fuzzies.
When was the last time you felt heard? Really listened to? Talked to instead of talked at? If you are anything like me, you have been waiting a while. I am generous with my time, and happy to listen. I do not know everything, and will never pretend to. The more I listen, the more I learn. As your city councilman, am I going to get it right all the time? No. Am I going to make mistakes? You bet. But through it all, I am confident we will make our small town an even better place to live.
You may be pleased, or frustrated, with how our city is run, and where our money is being spent. I am here to continue to improve upon our town’s successes, and to change what is not working. I am unafraid to ask hard, or even basic questions – to unearth why our city does things. From our city budget to how we decorate the town, I want to make sure every decision is first-rate, and in our best interest.
I hope you will join me. I am asking for your help, and your vote. As Gandhi said, “be the change you want to see in the world.” And it starts, right now.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you again.
