No on 27, Californians for Tribal Sovereignty and Safe Gaming, the opposition campaign to Proposition 27, the out-of-state corporate online sports betting ballot measure, today released the following statement on the Public Policy Institute of California’s (PPIC) “Californians and Their Government” Survey results which show a majority of Californians (54%) opposed Proposition 27 while only about a third of Californians (34%) support the measure.

“This poll shows what we’ve known all along, Californians are seeing right through this flawed and deceitful measure,” said Roger Salazar, spokesperson for No on 27, Californians for Tribal Sovereignty and Safe Gaming. “Proposition 27 is not about helping the homeless, it’s about 90% of the profits from online sports betting going to large out-of-state corporations as well as a deceptive attack on tribal sovereignty.”

In addition to a majority of Californians polled, the Los Angeles Times, the San Jose Mercury News; East Bay Times; Bay Area Reporter; Marin Independent Journal; the California Democratic Party; the California Republican Party; local elected officials; veterans’ organizations; health groups; community, civil rights and public safety organizations; labor unions; business organizations; and more than 50 Native American tribes are also opposed to Proposition 27.
