ChessPalace has been serving the local community for all its chess needs since its founding in 1990, when it started out as a small club in Long Beach. Today, it hosts summer camps, tournaments, classes, and chess nights, as well as selling chess-related merchandise out of their store.
Whether you’re a long-time player or a complete amateur, ChessPalace has something to offer.
Upcoming offers include:
- Summer Camp for Chess – Option 1: August 8-12 and Option 2: August 22-26 at 8:30 am – 12 pm. Click here to learn more or register.
- Chess classes for kids and adults, starting August 22 to November 11 on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday
- Weekly casual chess night – Thursdays and Fridays from 5:30 – 10 p.m.; $10/person (free for club members). Participants, at any skill level and age, can play as much chess as they want during that time. Walk-ins are welcome!
The ChessPalace Anniversary Tournament will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022, featuring raffles and lunch, as well as a $1000 prize! Participants can register for this event online.
If you’re looking for a gift for a chess-lover you know (or maybe even yourself), the ChessPalace store sells new and used chess books, specially crafted wooden pieces and themed chess sets such as civil war or medieval styles.
