Local Preteen Wins Fifth Acting Award

Kayden Tokarski, a 12-year-old South County actress who plays a young Julia Roberts’ character in “Gaslit” on Starz, has won her fifth best young acting award since 2021.

Kayden recently won three best young actress awards for her role in the independent short film “I Miss Her, Too.” She won an international Gold Best Young Actor award and Silver Best Acting Duo award (with co-star Dylan Sharon, from the Independent Shorts Awards and a Best Young Actress from Vegas Shorts. Last year, Kayden won two Best Young Actress awards for her role in the independent film “Message from the Mermaids.” She clinched an international Gold Best Young Actress award from the Independent Shorts Film Festival and a Best Young Actress award from the Venice Shorts Film Festival.

“I am honored beyond words for these amazing awards and the recognition of my work,” she said.

Along with starring in several independent films including “My Melancholy Baby” on Amazon Prime, Kayden portrays a young Martha Mitchell (Julia Roberts) on “Gaslit” streaming on Starz. “Gaslit” is an American political thriller limited television series based on the first season of the podcast Slow Burn by Leon Neyfakh. In addition to Julia Roberts, the series stars Sean Penn, Dan Stevens, Betty Gilpin, Shea Whigham, and Darby Camp. All eight episodes, including episode 3 with Kayden, are airing on Starz.
