A look back at the 2021-2022 school year, and some exciting news for 2022-2023!
2021-2022 – Every Sport, Every Championship – I believe the 2021-2022 school year will be remembered as the year we were able to provide an opportunity for every sport to have full regular seasons and all championship experiences at the Southern Section, CIF Regional and CIF State levels for the first time since the 2018-2019 school year. Allow that to sink in for a moment. What a journey we have been on in arriving at this moment and what an accomplishment we can all be proud of in making it happen for the young people we are so fortunate to serve. Now, we must build upon our successes and continue to forge ahead with the same spirit and commitment to keeping students first that has worked so well for us through some of the most challenging times we will ever face together. 2022-2023 – Financial News – On the heels of refunding 2021-2022 Sport Fees to all member schools, I have some more exciting financial news to deliver. Through the leadership and efforts of CIF Executive Director Ron Nocetti, working in cooperation and collaboration with all 10 sections in the State of California, the CIF secured a grant from the California Department of Education to help our organization with operating expenses for the next two years. These funds are to be used solely to support our programs and our mission.
Therefore, as the initial step in utilizing these grant monies, I am pleased to inform you that for the 2022-2023 school year, the entire amount of Sport Fees paid by our member schools will be waived. Once it is time for you to enter the CIFSS Home system to register your school and list your sports offerings for the upcoming normal. When you complete that step in the process you will notice that the balance due will be $0, meaning you will forego payment for 2022-2023 and it will be a dues free year!
There will be more ways for us to apply these funds over the next two years and I will keep you informed as we proceed. We look forward to continuing to do everything we can to benefit our membership and I hope it is clear to everyone that our true partnership works!
