DUI Checkpoint in Long Beach results in ten citations

LBPD officers issued ten citations at a DUI checkpoint on June 4, 2022.

The DUI checkpoint was held on Lakewood Boulevard between Wardlow Road and Spring Street from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Seven drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license. Three drivers were cited for various vehicle code violations. 1,897 vehicles drove through the checkpoint, 343 of which were screened.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
