Honoring Our Fallen Memorial reading of the names to take place on Memorial Day

This Memorial Day we will gather at our Honoring Our Fallen Memorial wall, located at Rosie The Riveter Park, in the City of Long Beach, to conduct our annual reading of the names.

As the sun rises on Memorial Day this year together, with Gold Star Families, local active-duty military, law enforcement, first responders and veterans, we will begin reading the names of our American heroes who have fallen in combat post 9/11 as reported by US central command. The names of 13 fallen heroes from Kabul were added this last week.

Additional plates honor those that have perished in training exercises and humanitarian efforts as well.

We invite the community to come out and join us. Bring a lawn chair and spend the morning with us or maybe a picnic and spend the day. We will have special paper and charcoal pencils for name rubbings that family and friends can make of their loved one or friends name and take with them.

5:30am—We will start the day as the sun rises with a special bagpiper tribute and the presentation of colors by the United States Marine Corps.
5:45am— Active-duty military, police, first responders, and veterans, will assist with the reading of the names. Each representative will take turns reading the list of all names of our fallen in order of death as inscribed on the wall.

We anticipate that all names will be completed, and the event will end at approximately 1:00 PM.

Additionally, we will have a live feed streamed through our web-site www.honoringourfallen.org
