Beckman, Trabuco Hills, Woodbridge, Pacifica, Foothill and Costa Mesa notch victories

BECKMAN 8, IRVINE 4: Beckman (5-1, 3-0) rallied from an early deficit to defeat Irvine in a Pacific Coast League game Saturday on a cold and windy day at Irvine. Senior catcher Daniel Cordero was 2 for 3 with three RBI and Zach Ireland pitched five plus innings to record his first win. Luke Spencer and Ashton Kanegae pitched in the seventh inning.

Irvine (0-8, 0-3) was led by Tate Zimmerman, who was 2 for 3 with two RBI and a walk; Bryan Wilhelm, who was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored and Jeremiah Gedeon, who was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Taylor Skelley pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run and striking out two, Matt Kim pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out two and Sawyer Spivey pitched one inning, striking out two.

TRABUCO HILLS 3, EDISON 2: Joey Gray was 2 for 3 with two RBI, Tyler Collins was 2 for 3, Bobby Gray was 1 for 2 with a double and Garrett Strenger 1 for 3 to lead the Mustangs (6-2). Robert Read pitched 5 1/3 innings striking out five and allowing one earned run.

Bryan Ramirez pitched one inning, striking out one and Gavin Madrid pitched 2/3 of an inning, striking out one.

WOODBRIDGE 14, PORTOLA 7: Woodbridge (5-3, 2-0) kept pace with Beckman for first place in the Pacific Coast League with a win over Portola (3-3, 1-1) Saturday at Ryan Lemmon Stadium.

Dylan Blakey got the win for the Warriors, pitching four innings and striking out five. Offensively, Matt Kuromoto scored four runs, had two hits and an RBI, Nate Perry scored two runs, had two hits and two RBI and Blakey had two runs scored, two hits and three RBI.

PACIFICA 2, OCEAN VIEW 0: The Mariners (8-1) took the second game of a two-game series. Colin Aidan pitched a complete game, striking out two. Aiden Marquez was 1 for 2 with two RBI and Johnny Morales was 2 for 4.

FOOTHILL 3, NEWPORT HARBOR 2 (8 innings): The Knights (6-3) won on a walk-off base hit by Ramon Ramirez, who drove in Andrew Parker for Foothill’s third win in a row. Mikey Venegas pitched two scoreless innings to get the win. Austin Overn was 2 for 4 with a run scored, triple and a stolen base, Ramirez was 1 for 2 with two RBI and Brady Schrank was 2 for 4.

COSTA MESA 14, MAGNOLIA 5: The Mustangs (6-2) were led by Will Clark, who pitched two innings, allowing no earned runs. Offensively, Jordan Stucki was 2 for 3 with three RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base, Matt Anderson, who was 3 for 4 with a double, RBI and a run scored and Sam Stute, who had a double and two RBI.

Costa Mesa opens league play Tuesday vs. Calvary Chapel at Costa Mesa.

CORONA DEL MAR 11, SEGERSTROM 0: The Sea Kings belted three home runs and evened their record at 4-4 with a victory. Click here for photo and more details.
