SANTA ANA, Calif. (November 12, 2024) – Orange County Workforce Solutions is hosting a series of events for job seekers and businesses in celebration of the U.S. Department of Labor’s 10th Annual National Apprenticeship Week. These events guide attendees on how to start or join apprenticeship programs in various industries, including early childhood education, automotive, culinary, and skilled trades.

“We are committed to developing the next generation of workers and fostering economic growth in Orange County,” said Chairman Donald P. Wagner, Third District Supervisor of the OC Board of Supervisors. “These events will highlight how apprenticeships provide paths to rewarding careers and help local businesses build skilled, dedicated workforces.”

Throughout the week, attendees will explore various apprenticeship opportunities, hear success stories, and access resources that bridge career growth with workforce development.

“The County is dedicated to connecting residents and businesses with the resources they need to thrive,” said Vice Chairman Doug Chaffee, Fourth District Supervisor. “This year’s apprenticeship events offer something valuable for everyone, and I encourage both job seekers and businesses to attend and discover the benefits.”

In Orange County, apprenticeships can lead to high-paying careers, with experienced workers earning up to $150,000 a year in popular fields.

“I have always supported hands-on training, which enhances classroom learning, addresses skills gaps, and helps workers prepare for better-paying jobs,” said Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento, Second District. “We should provide all the support we can to help workers be better prepared to enter the workforce and launch successful careers.”

Held annually each November, National Apprenticeship Week will take place from November 17 to November 23, 2024. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with representatives from apprenticeship programs in fields like construction, electrical, engineering, automotive, and more.

“Apprenticeship programs transform lives and launch well paid careers for our residents,” said Supervisor Katrina Foley, Fifth District. “Events throughout each corner of Orange County provide wonderful opportunities to connect residents with skilled and trained job opportunities and build a strong path to the middle class for Orange County families regardless of where they live.”
