AT&T calls hiring Michael Cohen 'big mistake' and says the exec who did it is retiring

AT&T hired Cohen in 2017 for strategic advice, paying him $50,000 a month — a total of $600,000 — in hopes of helping smooth the way for the federal government’s approval of AT&T’s proposed $85-billion takeover of Time Warner Inc. In a statement Friday, AT&T said that Cohen approached it after the 2016 presidential election and said he was leaving the Trump Organization and would do consulting “for a select few companies that wanted his opinion on the new President and his administration — the key players, their priorities, and how they think.”
